Welcome to Revelations on Timeless Rock & The Rolling Stones

What exactly is music that is defined or classified as “Timeless”?

Timeless means that something hasn’t aged or gone out of style and it is very challenging for music to be deemed as timeless but The Rolling Stones are perhaps the best example of a band that has generated timeless rock music.

The Beatles may also come to mind, however, the difference between The Beatles and The Rolling Stones is that the Stones basically kept rolling and touring and touring and rolling year after year and decade after decade.

They (The Rolling Stones) are the greatest Rock N Roll band in the world.”

The songs that the Rolling Stones wrote early in their careers such as “She’s Like a Rainbow or Start Me Up or Monkey Man” have been commercialized decade after decade in countless commercials as well as in major Hollywood films such as Good Fellas and Casino among many others. What has been interesting with The Rolling Stones is that they stuck to the script of trying to be a band that writes songs for public radio. As a rock band they also had a work ethic and strategy to be in the public eye so they have been on top of touring and staying relevant even if they are not producing new music.

As a band, their formula for success has had no limits and since they formed in 1962 they have sold over 240,000,000 + albums and counting which makes them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

The Rolling Stones fan base love that the band keeps touring and most do not expect nor demand new music from the band as many have come to the philosophy that as aged as the Stones have become it is far better to embrace and appreciate their showmanship and active efforts to keep touring.

Just prior to The Rolling Stones kicking off a US tour in 2021, the band lost Charlie Watts, an original member from 1962 who played drums and filled out the bottom of all the Rolling Stones songs.  Though the loss of Charlie Watts has been emotionally draining for Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, they didn’t hesitate and knew that Charlie would want them to proceed with the tour.

Each time The Rolling Stones tour, people can’t get enough because they deliver on their songs that they have worked hard to keep timeless.

Musically, the band very, very rarely would improvise their songs and the only time where they did experiment with this was when Mick Taylor came into the band, now decades ago.   However, the musicianship within the Rolling Stones delivers the highest grade of popular rock as the songs are so well written and accented. The band has also reached over to many other genres such as Country Music with the influence of Gram Parsons, who introduced Keith in bringing in more of a twang sound that is distinctly heard on one of their best albums entitled “Exile On Main Street”.

In closing – The Rolling Stones’ journey seems as if it is almost fiction because there is no other Rock N Roll band from the 1960’s who are together and touring.  They have defied all odds though they have lost 2 band members in Brian Jones and Charlie Watts and where other members retired or left the band in Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor. The Rolling Stones exemplify – timelessness and timeless rock music.
